Decscent & Family
Ralph, born on June 6, 1992, in Migori, holds a special place in the Oduor family. As the eighth child among ten siblings, including brothers Peter, Joseph, Lucas, Philip, and Lenny, as well as sisters Lillian and Yvonne, Ralph’s presence is woven into the vibrant family tapestry. The family, led by parents Mama Fransisca Atieno Oduor and the late Joseph Oduor Oduongโ, cherishes the bonds of brotherhood, despite the loss of two beloved siblings, the late Dominic and the late Lillian Auma. As the youngest among his brothers, Ralph’s life story becomes an integral part of the collective narrative of the Oduor family, leaving a lasting imprint. The Oduor family, with Ralph as a crucial member, stands as a testament to a legacy characterized by love, resilience, and enduring connections that transcend time.
Schooling & Work
Despite financial challenges, Ralph excelled academically, demonstrating a passion for Mathematics and Sciences that led to his successful completion of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) at Suna Junior Primary School in 2006. Despite financial constraints redirecting him to Oruba Mixed as a day scholar instead of Kanyawanga High School, he continued his education at Chianda High School for forms three and four. In 2010, Ralph achieved success in his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. Afterward, he pursued higher education at Kenyatta University, graduating in 2016 with Second Class Honours (Upper Division) while also obtaining certification as a Certified Public Accountant through the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). Post-graduation, Ralph actively engaged in community initiatives in Migori, showcasing leadership during the Kazi Mtaani initiative by the County Government of Migori. Professionally, he contributed to Down To Earth (DTE) Technologies, serving as an Accountant before becoming a Procurement Manager until his untimely demise.
Religion
Throughout the family’s life, his mother, affectionately known as Nyoruka, has been a consistent and dedicated prayer warrior, taking the lead in nurturing the family’s spiritual life. Ralph embraced this tradition during his upbringing, making prayer and a commitment to Christianity integral parts of his life.
Demise
On December 16, 2023, we received the distressing news of the unexpected and untimely passing of Ralph. His demise, devoid of any preceding illness, prompted a thorough examination. Your calm demeanor, the constant laughters, and playful banter with the kids and everyone else always brightened our days during your visits and the time you spent with us. Waridi often expresses, "I miss Uncle Ralph whenever any other family member comes around," leaving me at a loss for words, but emotions well up, and tears find their way. To all of us, you weren't just a relative but an integral part of our small family. Thank you for sharing the better part of your last moments with my family. We hold you in our hearts for eternity. Ralph's life was a testament to authenticity, a quality he embodied from the day he was born until his last breath. He dedicated himself to the art of simplicity, always mindful of showing respect to everyone he encountered. On a personal level, these principles formed the foundation of our deep friendship. His passions mirrored the vibrant spirit within himโwhether it was his unwavering love for music, especially American hip-hop and occasionally Jamaican Dancehall, or his remarkable ability to effortlessly connect with people from all walks of life. Ralph imparted to us the profound wisdom of embracing our passions wholeheartedly and building connections that transcended the superficial. Reflecting on Ralph's time with us, it was undeniably special, and I am profoundly grateful that he chose to share the better part of it with me. As we bid farewell, envision him soaring with the angelsโ a soldier in the realm beyond. Until the day we meet again, baba, may your spirit continue to inspire and guide us. Much love!

Uncle Ralph, the shadows where we walked on those starlit nights seem colder without your warmth. Games once filled with laughter now echo with your absence. But even in silence, your voice whispers: "Study hard, child." Each word, a golden thread woven into the tapestry of my life. You were the sun that painted our sky, the strength that held our hands. Now, tears glisten like fallen stars, yet your light remains, forever etched in my soul. Go well, Uncle. You are, and will always be, the best of us.

You were too young to die now Ralph....๐ญ๐ญ I remember when you were born, I was in class 7. We had just lost the only child to Dana ma Ida Ohalo, called Raphael Otieno.... the guy from America.... Nera named you after him. I believed that some day you were goinf to live in America. You were a little calm plumpy pumpkin.. loved by all. Over the years you grew up too calm and cool. I never heard you shout at anything or anyone. Death has dealt me bad before, but your demise is a real shocker. Yue mos mhichwa.... ka Nyasaye oyie wananere e polo.

From Humble Beginnings to Shared Dreams: Our journey began when Ralph was just a child. Life wasn't easy. Food scarcity was a constant threat, etching indelible memories of scavenging for leftovers in Migori Market while Ralph, Lenny, Meja and Lucas kept watch. Meanwhile, I toiled at the slaughterhouse, securing scraps of meat โ just enough to cobble together a single meal each day. Despite the hardships, there was laughter, unwavering love, and dreams for a brighter future. God's grace intervened when I landed a job opportunity in Nairobi. Ralph, inseparable and steadfast, joined me later. Our tiny apartment became more than just a shared space; it was a crucible where our bond forged into something profound, a father-son connection forged in resilience and shared dreams. Through Campus Life and Beyond: We weathered the tempestuous storms of his student years. Finally, Ralph landed his dream job at DTE in 2022, a testament to his hard work and the kindness of my friend Bramwel Wakachunga, who connected him with the opportunity. We dreamt big for Ralph. Europe beckoned, with plans for further studies set for 2024. During our last meeting, a month before his untimely passing, his eyes shone with ambition. Yet, with characteristic selflessness, he altered his course, choosing the University of Nairobi, prioritizing family over personal goals. Though Gone, Never Forgotten: God, in his infinite wisdom, had other plans. Though Ralph's life was tragically cut short, his spirit lives on in my heart and the hearts of everyone who knew him. Our grand plans might have been left unfulfilled, but the love, the laughter, and the unwavering support we shared remain, a tapestry woven with the threads of hardship and triumphs, forever cherished. May Ralph's soul find eternal peace. He will forever remain a vibrant spark in my memory, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of unwavering love. BUILT TO LAST , WARRIORS NEVER DIE. TILL WE MEET AGAIN CHAMP.

I can never deny the pain that I carry, but I would like us to remember him as a blessing and a lesson. I want to treasure the life he shared with us despite the pain that his death has brought us. Rest in eternal peace, dear brother. You will live on forever in our hearts

Losing a brother is like losing a piece of your soul. It's an ache that never fully goes away, a void that can never be filled. You find yourself longing for that familiar presence, the one who shared your childhood adventures, your secrets, and your dreams. Someone instantly becomes not only your brother but also your best friend and confidant when you spend your entire childhood with them. Youโve always been a man of integrity. I remember at some point all we had was just Hope and Faith. How you kept on reminding me and my fellow brothers and sisters that "Tomorrow will take care of itself" until we nicknamed you BRO TOMORROW. Rest easy My Brother. ALL IS VANITY.
Bernard Makosala (Cousin)
t's disheartening to accept that you are gone on a one way ticket. I remember joining your family in 2003, the acceptance and love as one of your own has never faded away. You guys were ever jovial. I remember our everyday trip to river Nyangubo to swim and chew sugarcane from the plantation in our youthful days. Rest easy little brother. Cousin
Light a Candle
โThe soul (spirit) of the human is the candle of Godโ
-Proverbs 20:27
Losing a loved one is never easy, and finding ways to honor and remember them can be a significant part of the healing process. One powerful way to do this is through memorial candle-lighting ceremonies. These ceremonies provide a sacred space for you to come together with family and friends to share memories, express your feelings, and celebrate the life of the departed loved one.
